Como is a beautiful medieval town with spectacular architecture and very interesting villas on the shores of Lake Como. However, a beautiful town like Como also has beautiful churches, a legacy of Italian medieval architecture. One such a legacy is Como Cathedral located in Duomo Square - considered a masterpiece of Italian medieval architecture. (Also known as the, Cattedrale di Santa Maria or the Duomo.) The construction of the church started in 1396.

The church of Saint Abbondio (also called the Basilica di Sant’Abbondio), is a very interesting example of a Romanesque style church built in the early 11th century. 1. Terme di Como Romana (The Roman Baths of Como)
Como was inhabited since antiquity when the Romans built here an establishment. As such can be found today a legacy of Roman architecture in the form of the ever famous Roman baths of Como, otherwise known as the Terme di Como Romana. This magnificent site was discovered by accident in the seventies during the construction of an underground parking area. Construction workers to their surprise found this ancient spa complex, built in the second half of the first century AD. The complex includes 8 different rooms spread on an area of 1500 square meters.
