The Louvre Museum & Notre Dame
This route is a suggested itinerary for seeing a lot of the city of Paris in one day. Please note that the distances travelled were done mostly by metro, not by foot, and can be travelled very easily with bicycles as well. Enjoy!

This route starts with a walk along the Seine River, which can be very beautiful when the weather allows for it. Not only will you get to see the beautiful architectural details of the bridges up close, but you'll also get to feel like a local walking next to the joggers, the families, and the children playing.

Although another way to get the same experience would be to opt for a small boat tour or trip, we really recommend putting on some headphones and letting yourself get mesmerised by this walk along the river.

One of the things that we enjoyed the most about this walk was checking out the statues that stand at the entrance of these bridges Whilst most have their own background (donations, gifts from other countries, etc) they all share a similar glamour with their golden touches and magnitude. Make sure to read more about them if you're curious!

Eventually you will run into a bridge that, once crossed over, gets you to the Louvre museum. This walk will have taken about 20-30 minutes depending on how fast or slow you walked.

If you stand on this bridge you'll be able to look back on the distance you covered and admire the view from a different perspective.

Behind this building you will find the majestic glass triangle that symbolises you've officially reached the Louvre. It is, as you will have noticed, located on the Right Bank of the river and in the heart of the "Paris Snail," the first arrondissement. It is located in the Louvre Palace, the beautiful building surrounding the glass pyramid.

Right after China's Palace Museum, the Louvre Museum is the world's most visited museum. It is estimated that it receives over 9 million visitors per year.

The Louvre museum itself and its architecture is great to admire, both from the outside and from the inside. The museum is free for children, EU youth, and students under 25.

Keep in mind that the Louvre museum contains thousands of art pieces (from statues to paintings) and, for real art lovers, could take days to see. However most tourists are more interested in the more famous art pieces, and for those allocating 2 hours to this museum could be enough. For some, however, 5-6 hours are needed, especially if you like listening to the information headphones as you go.
We suggest you study both what is on exposition in the permanent exhibition as well as the temporary one well before you visit, in order to know how to allocate your time better and where you can find what you want to see.

One of the first things you'll notice once you start wandering around the Louvre are these beautiful indoor squares, that feature beautiful statues from several artists and from diverse time periods.

The Mona Lisa is actually a lot smaller than you think it is. In movies or pictures this world-renown painting may look like your average sized painting, but in reality it is about as big as an A4 piece of paper. Add a crowd of tourists with selfie-sticks, security perimeters, and security guards and getting a proper glimpse of this painting is actually harder than it may seem.

Next up on the route is the Notre-Dame de Paris. This is one of the world's most famous cathedral's, associated by many to the children's story of the Notre-Dame Hunchback. To see it from this perspective you will have to take a boat tour on the Seine River, however it is very close by foot to the Louvre museum and has thus made it in our route in this order.

This cathedral is a medieval Catholic cathedral which can be found on the Île de la Cité. It is in Paris' fourth arrondissement. Architects worldwide consider this cathedral to be one of the finest examples of a style known as French Gothic architecture.

This is the view you will have of the cathedral if you see it from the southern facade from the Seine. We hope you enjoyed your trip around Paris and that this route helped you get around!
