In May the well-known peaks will host the set of 'The Red Cup', the new chapter of the movie saga.

Even the die-hard cynic Han Solo couldn't resist the charm of the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. He stayed at this marvelous place for these weeks, experiencing life at the feet of the gorgeous mountain range while shooting the Star Wars' spin-off movie called "The Red Cup". For young readers, the Star Wars movies were one of the most successful science fiction sagas of all time, conceived by George Lukas forty years ago.

Han Solo is a rough, pragmatic and intrepid intergalactic pilot who travels with Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker. No longer performed by Harrison Ford, his face and body are impersonated by Alden Ehrenreich, however, the astonishing appeal of this legendary movie series is undoubted and its marriage to the Three Peaks already hits the target. This magic environment was also the set for many other productions, like The Coldplay's "Up & Up" video clip where they imaginatively took a walk in the midst of those peaks.
"The Red Cup" is planned to be shot from the 5th to 12 th May, at the border between Alta Pusteria and Cadore (area of Auronzo). Three scenes are set on Cima Grande, Ovest and Piccola, at the side of the municipality of Belluno. To be more precise, Monte Piana is the selected place, between Auronzo and Lavaredo huts and the woods towards Misurina.

The movie crew is about to come and prepare everything, the hotels are getting full of operators, actors and technical staff. They are about 200 and 250 people, reaching the location little by little.
On the one hand, this kind of news stirs up curiosity and appeals to a large number of fans. On the other hand, "the fever" provoked by such a great event gets mixed up with actors' desire to safeguard their own privacy. As we could imagine, the host town Auronzo did not reject to grant the permits for this "stellar" production; at the same time, it was agreed by specific contractual rules to spread as little news about the shoots as possible. In addition to this, despite a bit of sacrifice during the shooting caused by some logistics to arrange, image return is guaranteed. As a matter of fact, some roads had to be closed for traffic, such as those that rise to Monte Piana and to the Auronzo refuge, under the south walls of the Three Peaks.

Meanwhile, after the first "The Red Cup" caravans arrived, the castings were announced shortly in Cortina d'Ampezzo.  Local aspirants will have the chance to become extras for the background scenes.
As for the protagonists, on Ehrenreich's side, as a young Han Solo, the cast of "The Red Cup" includes Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover and Woody Harrelson.Chris Miller is co-directed by his long-time co-star Phil Lord. The screenplay has been signed by Jon and Lawrence Kasdan. What else? The consecrated myth of Star Wars, arm in arm with the mountaineering epic and the Magnetic Landscape of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
